Our day to day lives may seem mundane: We wake up, brush our teeth, eat breakfast, read the newspaper etc. Most people live their lives following a pretty regimented day to day routine. They may mix it up by taking a vacation from time to time or by trying a new activity but in general they spend a majority of time doing the same activities from week to week. How are we supposed to live inspired and balanced lives when it seems as though we are living in a déjà vu reality?

As the cliché goes…beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Each and every moment of each day we have the opportunity to live life to the fullest. At every moment and with every breath we have the ability to live greatly. However, in order to do this we need to be still, quiet and conscious of the world around us.

Life is truly what you make it. The “ordinary” walk to work can turn into a life changing experience for you or for someone else. The person you strike up a conversation with could become a lifelong friend or partner and the person you smile at who was on their way to take their life may change their mind. Although my examples may seem extreme they are possible. The point is to look at life with a constant sense of wonder and awe and nothing will ever be boring.

Our perspective on life controls how we experience it. If we are positive and stay open to what life offers us we will most likely be pleasantly surprised with the abundance that comes our way. We tend to get so wrapped up in big things, big ideas and big plans that we miss the beautiful sunrise, the warm embrace and the possibility for a connection.

Our lives become so busy and so high-tech that we can go days without actual human interaction. Even families become disconnected from those who live under the same roof: one parent is plugged into the television, the other on the computer while the children are plugged into their iPod.

We constantly try to put in more and more into our lives to keep ourselves entertained and happy. However, it is when we truly begin to take away all the clutter in our lives such as our excessive possessions, our multiple credit cards and our constant attachment to technology that we may start to experience the beauty of the moment.

So, instead of trying to fill up your life with everything and anything you can cram into it try to do opposite. Start emptying everything that is holding you back from living in the moment. Take a look at your life and see what you are addicted to. What are you letting in that is keeping you running from place to place all day and missing out on the best part of life-living. Only once your physical space is de-cluttered your mind and your heart have space to experience everything that is going on around you.

Stop exhausting yourself with plans, purchases and busyness and just start to breathe in your reality. It may surprise you when you notice the real beauty that already surrounds you that you have been too busy to realize or notice.

Remember, there are no ordinary moments.
